Aspirin after drinking, before going to bed
NO - bad idea, aspirin mixing with the alcohol can do nasty things to your stomach.

Have something to eat before drinking

Clear drinks cause less severe hangovers
YES - really! 'Cogeners' naturally occurring colorant in some darker drinks can contribute to hangovers.

Present UK Government advice on safe drinking is:
No more than two units of alcohol per day for women.
No more than three units per day for men.
The Government  recommended alcohol limits  per week are presently  28  units   for  men and 21 units for women.
A  'unit'  is  equal  to  one  'standard drink',  e.g. 1 glass of wine, (approx 125ml)  half  a  pint  of beer (approx 250ML)  or   a   single   measure  of spirits (25ML).
The advice for women is different to men  because  females are affected differently  by alcohol  due  to body physiology.    A   female   who   has consumed   the   same   amount  of alcohol  as  a  male,  of  the  same  weight,  will  still  have  a  higher  blood  alcohol concentration than he does

The communist government weren't very interested in the research into hangovers, they just wanted the workers to stop drinking and get back to work. That sentiment seems a bit familiar somehow.
